So I had it all figured out in my head on Saturday. You know, get a bus into town, walk past the train station up the restaurant.
But no. Mum decided that she'd get me a taxi, considering how horrible the weather was, she didn't want me to turn up looking like a drowned rat. To be honest though, I don't think the people there would give a damn. They'd just get me on with prepping veg :D
Anyway so THEN this morning, mum comes up to me and goes "Craig MIGHT be able to pick you up, but if not then give the taxi man a ring."
So which option do I go with? If I don't sort something out with the taxi service then they'll be booked up and that means if I ring them when Craig isn't there, then you know, what am I supposed to do? Walk home? I am actually still better off getting a bus - at least then I can wait in the bus station while waiting for a bus, no matter how long it takes. I don't have to wait in the cold outside the restaurant. Honestly, this taxi idea was supposed to be a solution to waiting in the cold. Didn't really work.
So I got confused. Obviously. I didn't have a solid confirmation about who was picking me up, so when I got into the taxi this morning I asked if I could get picked up as well. It's not like I wasn't being sensible - I figured from the way mum said the thing about Craig, that he wasn't going to pick me up anyway.
So at the end of the day I ended up getting picked up by the taxi, even though Craig apparently was waiting outside. Just my luck, hey? Why does something like that have to happen to me after a really exhausting day, when I just want to get home and warm up and have something to eat?
So that was the shitty part of the day. The rest of the day was fine. The people at Bradley's are really great, a woman called Angela looked after me as well as Sammy the cook. I peeled 20kg of carrots, cut up around 20 broccolis, peeled and sliced potatoes into one large bucket for chips and then peeled some more potatoes whole for dofinwah... or whatever they're called/spelled like. And lastly I halved tomatoes, probably for baking or whatever.
So that was my day. Not very interesting, and very exhausting.

Which is, like, the majority of catering: not very interesting, and very exhausting. Wow... 20kg of carrots. I know who to ask next time we have carrots for Sunday dinner ;o)
Joking!
It's Dauphinois for the potatoes, btw. Apparently, according to Cookipedia, because the recipe comes from Dauphine in the French Alps. You learn summat new every day!
Yes :D and yes. I think the only interesting part is being a chef, and even then... 8|
Catering for parties and stuff must be fun though, in a way. MAYBE NOT THOUGH.
Oh, well, those potatoes are bootiful :D
