In and amongst coursework, stress and exams, we're informed this morning that the surrounding Colleges are hard to get into.
Oh, no shit! =| No need to tell ME. I've known for a while that Greenhead and New Colleges are filling up beyond the seams. But I can't help feeling that my year in particular have been hard-done by for the past few years. They decided to end SATs, with us being the last year who HAD to take them. They've changed the way their GCSE options go, so the years below us don't HAVE to take a language (I would anyway, but even so). The year above us are the last year who is allowed to go down to the shop come Year 11 (there's a shop at the bottom of the field that year 11's WERE allowed to go down to during break and lunchtime).
And now it's us who have to work extra hard to secure our place in College. True that Greenhead and New College are both partner Colleges with Holmfirth High, and mostly all the people who apply from HHS get their desired place. But if when they're full, someone comes along with better grades than one of us from HHS? We get kicked out. So really, the opportunities and 'favouritism' they give us isn't very beneficial these days. It's not something you can be assured with. You really do have to strive for those grades, and get the best you can. If your best isn't good enough?
A straight goodbye.
It's because of the Credit Crunch. I didn't think it would ever affect me - but now it is doing, and I'm feeling more and more paranoid every day about whether or not I will be offered a place at Greenhead when I apply. I'm just glad that New College is becoming more popular. There are plenty other colleges around the area, I don't understand why everyone wants go to go the ones that I want to go to D: (I don't want to go to New College... but still!)
