Prom!

What else can I call it?

Took me one hour to get ready, which is awesome considering a lot of people spent all day getting ready. Me? I spent most of my Thursday surfing the 'net. Go figure.

There was a little bit of a bump in arrangements as the person who was organizing the transport informed us the bus we originally were going to have got crashed into with £10,000 of damage, but nonetheless we had a normal kind of bus pick us up. It's better than arriving in your parent's car (no offence). While we were gutted we couldn't have our proper London bus, we did see a couple of hummers on the way there and they all looked like we expected military to jump out any second. There were few limousines - infact I didn't see one all night.

We arrived in good time, heading inside, getting checked for weapons and alcohol (XD) to which one of my friends, the good Doctor's daughter, had to hide a hip flask of whiskey outside on a bollard for later. Lol, fail. A few more people I knew had been drinking beforehand, but really they only looked like fools compared to everyone else who was NOT drunk. Moving on, we mingled around near the bar for a while trying to get to the coat room to deposit our outdoor wear and then at half seven we were instructed to move into the 'suite' where the room was laid out with tables on either side and a DJ station and dancefloor in the middle. Strobe lights spazzed around on the walls and we sat in our respective tables.

We were table 13 - unlucky, as we didn't win anything in the raffle draws. The first course was soup, which didn't taste of anything. The food took a very long time to serve and when the second course came out (chicken, saute vegetables and roast potatoes) apparently when the third table had finished eating, there were still two tables waiting to be served. The teacher on our table bought all our drinks for us, which I thought was really lovely of him. The dessert was toffee and pecan cheesecake. Everything was very well presented but in general it was difficult to eat especially wearing the kind of things us girls had dressed up in.

After dinner there was entertainment from a singer, and teachers got up and did silly things like dancing with umbrellas and dressing up as women (if they were a man, of course). There were a few speeches from the head boy and head girl, and from the head of year, and after that it was just free reign on the dancefloor for the disco (of which the music = rubbish, the DJ was awful and I knew hardly any of the songs. My ankles hurt a lot from dancing, don't try it in heels).

The whole night was all in all worth it, but it wasn't any more or any less than I had been expecting. It didn't help that I came down with a cold during the day so by the time the prom actually started I felt like death. It took me a lot of hours to get to sleep properly. So, that's that.
