Friday evening - we set out fairly early, at half past three, so that we would avoid most of the rush hour traffic. A road to Greenfield was closed so we turned back, heading the other way across the moors. That alone was enough to stress mum out after 'a hard day at work'. Nonetheless we continued and drove into Manchester, where she got really stressed because she couldn't find which road to drive down. I was reading the map exactly as it said but according to her it 'didn't work' so we drove home, and she put me on the train to Manchester Picadilly instead and Natalie picked me up. We spent the evening watching The Man Who Fell to Earth with cheese and potato pie and nommy veggies, and let me tell you that film is so what the fuck but so amusing.
Saturday morning was an early start as our train arrived at 12:15 (or it was supposed to anyway). It was a little late but we boarded and sat on the very horrible Virgin train. I know what people mean now when they say they don't like Virgin trains. Anyway, the journey was long and people were full of complaints about the late train. It meant for us we couldn't get on the same train as Hannah in Milton Keynes and thus extra waiting time for them at the other end. We got on the first train to Northampton we could find from Milton Keynes, with a cup of tea to wait with. And they're really weird in Milton Keynes. They haven't got any bins but you hand your cup into the man who gave you your drinks...
Anyway, arriving in Northampton we were greeted by Hannah, Rach and her parents. Dumping all our luggage into the car we bummed off into Northampton for a while to shop around, and Rach bought her dad his Christmas present. Walking through a shopping centre we spied a very gay looking Santa doing a questionable pose. There was also "Bairstow Eves" which I misread as "Rainbow Eyes" - gay peep show. We were picked up and drove into Rach's little village. Snow was everywhere and that night it was extremely icy, but by the morning it hadn't snowed any but hadn't melted so... it was exactly the same.
We traipsed into the small living room and exchanged presents - I had some pink nail varnish from Hannah, bracelets, another bracelet ( 8D ), some Percy Pigs, and some Topshop pants, while Rach gave me my birthday present ( Star Trek DVD, fffff! ) and from her for Christmas I received Dr. Horrible DVD, a bottle of Tuborg (It's Danish Beer. Slight injoke there) and some minty Bendick's chocolates. From Natalie so far I've had a zip up bag and Labyrinth on DVD although there is still one more present to go and that's for tomorrow. :)
I can't remember what we did in the evening after present opening apart from move ourselves into the large living room in which we ate pizza (nom nom) which had been hinted at as what was for dinner by a badjokecentral joke from Herr P earlier in the car - deep pan, crisp and even. x))) O Fail. We organized beds and things and went for a walk into the snow, which was booful and not so cold. When we got back we watched The Boat That Rocked ( bawww, Bob! ) and Labyrinth (Dance Magic Dance o__O ).
The second day (we're on Sunday now) we had nommy Danish bacon butties for breakfast, followed by relocation to the small living room in which we spent the day playing silly board games such as Monopoly (and I won for the first time in my life, although it didn't feel like much of an accomplishment. A very hollow victory, is winning that game. D: I felt so trav), Scruples, and Therapy. Therapy was definitely the funniest game of the night. We also played Scattergories that day. Following this we ate chish and fips, nommy as they were, with our Tuborg, we sat in front of Catch-22. Quite a good film even if it does involve someone getting chopped in half by a plane on a raft. Possibly the funniest part of the film and also the most dnw. That night we also watched Like Minds. Moving on, we settled to sleep and as usual laughed a long time talking before actually sleeping but we never complain :) I love it.
Monday - porridge for breakfast, but not with salt because that's fuckin' disgustin'. Hannah had herself some toast with RASPERGEE jam because :B we know she likes to be different and hates porridge. Monday was a day filled with lol - we played a lot of consequences and the name game. After this we remembered we had gingerbreadmen to decorate and there is photographic evidence of this on Facebook. We enjoyed our last walk of the run of Travtiems II and this time it was much colder but much more snow was about and it was prettier.
Tuesday was sadtiems, we had to get up and catch the train home :( we had a short lived journey with Hannah on her direct train to London Euston, and following that we didn't have an extremely long wait for our train to Manc. Piccadilly. When we arrived we knew we'd have to stay over at Nat's for another night again simply because there were trains running however snow was too thick for anyone to be able to drive down from wherever they were and pick us up from the station. We cuddled up with food (raspberry jam doughnuts, tomato cheese pasta and chicken and mushroom pies) infront of the whole of Being Human, and Star Trek. Good haul :)
Journey back to Hudds. was alrightish even if we did have to stand up. I just want to say that I've had my fill of lugging a large suitcase around in the snow for at least 5 years.
