DAY 2 Work XP

Why does everyone else call it "workS experience"

THERE ISNT A ****ing S on the end! its WORK experience. FFFFFFF.

I like saying 'ffffffff'. it expresses all manner of feelings, from frustration to excitement. x)

So I just kind of chopped parsley and washed up today, have to say, that dishwasher is quick and you wouldn't believe the effort that goes into running a restaurant. Its like a production line in there. Now I know why the food takes so long. We have to rush about EVERYWHERE and if there's just one person doing the washing, you get bombarded honestly D: its hell!

ANYWAY ONLY 4 MORE DAYS TILL I CAN SEE WATCHMEN. FFFFFFFFFFFF.

Work XP - Day 1

So I had it all figured out in my head on Saturday. You know, get a bus into town, walk past the train station up the restaurant.

But no. Mum decided that she'd get me a taxi, considering how horrible the weather was, she didn't want me to turn up looking like a drowned rat. To be honest though, I don't think the people there would give a damn. They'd just get me on with prepping veg :D

Anyway so THEN this morning, mum comes up to me and goes "Craig MIGHT be able to pick you up, but if not then give the taxi man a ring."

So which option do I go with? If I don't sort something out with the taxi service then they'll be booked up and that means if I ring them when Craig isn't there, then you know, what am I supposed to do? Walk home? I am actually still better off getting a bus - at least then I can wait in the bus station while waiting for a bus, no matter how long it takes. I don't have to wait in the cold outside the restaurant. Honestly, this taxi idea was supposed to be a solution to waiting in the cold. Didn't really work.

So I got confused. Obviously. I didn't have a solid confirmation about who was picking me up, so when I got into the taxi this morning I asked if I could get picked up as well. It's not like I wasn't being sensible - I figured from the way mum said the thing about Craig, that he wasn't going to pick me up anyway.

So at the end of the day I ended up getting picked up by the taxi, even though Craig apparently was waiting outside. Just my luck, hey? Why does something like that have to happen to me after a really exhausting day, when I just want to get home and warm up and have something to eat?

So that was the shitty part of the day. The rest of the day was fine. The people at Bradley's are really great, a woman called Angela looked after me as well as Sammy the cook. I peeled 20kg of carrots, cut up around 20 broccolis, peeled and sliced potatoes into one large bucket for chips and then peeled some more potatoes whole for dofinwah... or whatever they're called/spelled like. And lastly I halved tomatoes, probably for baking or whatever.

So that was my day. Not very interesting, and very exhausting.

Should I cry tears of happiness, or tears of sadness?

I know it's not good to get too sad about anything, but when you find out your friend was diagnosed with cancer 6 months ago, it's not much cause for celebration. I don't know whether it's curable, I didn't get that far into asking her. I blubbed pretty much as soon as I heard. At first I wasn't sure that I'd heard her properly, but when I asked, "... cancer?" and she nodded, I just completely fell apart inside.

Of course she should be the one who is more upset, but I suppose after six months of knowing something like that, you come to terms with it somewhat and just accept that it might be curable, and it might not. These things happen... and sometimes they go away. But most of the time they stick.

There is cheery news however; I received my work experience placement, and I'm going to Bradley's Restaurant in Huddersfield for two weeks :D. 10AM - 3PM days, with morning and afternoon breaks. Apparently it's a lovely restaurant, so I'm really glad that my application impressed. Now I just have to brave the phonecall... which I'm not nervous about at all :D!
